Acute Traumatic Cervical Spinal Cord Injuries: Correlating MRI findings with neurological outcome

Michiel Ter Haar, Shunmugam Govender

To evaluate whether quantitative ( maximum spinal cord compression, maximum canal compromise, length of lesion) and qualitative ( intramedullary haemorrhage, cord oedema, cord swelling, soft tissue injury, herniated disc) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) variables after acute traumatic cervical spinal cord injuries(SCI) correlate with the patientís neurological status and if they are predictive of outcome at long term follow up.
