Immunization, and possibly supplemental Vitamin A coverage in South Africa remain suboptimal in accordance with targets set out by the WHO. While data is available for immunization coverage in the first year of life, this does not apply to immunization beyond the first year of life.

By gathering information from Road to Health Cards  of all 6-8 year olds in a semi-urban KZN population, this study will describe the coverage of the vitamin A supplementation programme and the coverage, and drop-out rates for this population. Recent coverage of immunization given at 6 years of age will be described for the first time.
