Abstract

This is a retrospective study and is descriptive in nature. It is an audit of patients with perineal trauma following childbirth attending the pelvic floor clinic. Approximately 100 patients managed from 2004 to date will be reviewed.

Electronic medical records of patients who presented with a diagnosis of altered faecal continence following perineal trauma during childbirth and managed at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital (IALCH) will be reviewed. Data will be recorded on a datasheet and submitted for statistical analysis.

This data is “kept” on a computerized system and is an accurate reflection of the sample population as they include clinician records, investigations, laboratory results, surgical procedures and outcomes.
