Abstract

The charts of the women presenting with amenorrhoea to the gynae-endocrine clinic will be reviewed and the relevant data pertaining to the study will be recorded on a structured data sheet. The effect of different confounding variables such as age, genetics, oestrogen deficiency or the prolonged use of certain medication on BMD will be studied in young women with pathological amenorrhoea. The ultimate aim of the audit will be to improve the quality of service to young women with amenorrhoea who face the risk of osteopaenia and osteoporosis development , thereby improving overall quality of life outcomes.
