Abstract

With the changing pattern of diseases and its impact on psychiatry one would expect to see a change in referral patterns seen in consultation liaison psychiatry ( CLP). This study aims to describe patterns of referral in consultation liaison services in psychiatry at a district level hospital in South Africa and to look at changes in these patterns by comparing it to earlier local studies as well as comparing the patterns to current international trends seen in consultation- liason- psychiatry(CLP). We also plan on exploring possible reasons for our findings.
