Abstract

There is a need to identify the barriers to uptake of antiretroviral therapy in individuals for whom antiretroviral therapy is indicated. The purpose of this study is to identify the barriers to antiretroviral therapy initiation in HIV-infeccted patients in the South AFrican context, as seen from the patients' perspective, at Port Shepstone outpatients' department in 2009. Patients interviews will be carried out by trained HIV counselors.
