Abstract

This study will evaluate the performance of the public health sector in cataract surgery services. It will identify the barriers associated with cataract surgery performances in the public sector for KwaZulu-Natal, and make recommendations as to how these can be overcome. Habib et al suggest that the complication rate is lower in those who perform more than 400 operations per year than those who perform fewer [6].This study will therefore focus on factors affecting quantity other than quality of care.
