Abstract

There is a subset of sick infants born to HIV positive mothers the prognosis of whom needs further study.

Furthermore, sick HIV positive mothers have a higher risk of premature labour and higher rates of LBW. A large proportion of resources are allocated to the immediate and long term care of these infants the outcomes of these infants still remain elusive. This retrospective study aims to report the transmission rates and mortality of the infants at one year.
