Abstract

Malnutrition is a common feature of childhood and an underlying factor in many childhood deaths.  This study proposes to identify available infant and young child feeding messages, describe infant and young child feeding practice in the home and hospital and evaluate feeding practices to feeding messages.  This will be done using self – administered questionnaires for mothers of young children as well as staff in the children’s wards and kitchens of hospitals in KwaZulu-Natal.
