Abstract

Retrospective survey of pathogens isolated in trauma Intensive care unit as the cause of nosocomial infection. To determine their antimicobial susceptibility patterns and to establish an antibiogram for the unit. This study is a retrospective chart review collecting demographic and medical data on all admissions to the Trauma Intensive care unit January 2009 December 2009. Medical data will be analyzed to establish the incidence of nosocomial infection in the relevant unit .The major nosocomial infections would include the following Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP), Catheter related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) ,Blood stream infection (BSI), Skin and soft tissue infection (SSI), sinusitis and urinary tract infection (UTI).
