Abstract

Researches elsewhere found a link between preterm delivery and HIV infection in pregnant women. But little has been said in South Africa about this relationship. This research aims to explore this association in South Africa context. It is an observational cross-sectional study that might emphasize the vigorous and pro-active management strategies for preterm labour. In addition it will reinforce the screening for HIV infection to existing practices. The proposed research will also look at the impact of different intervention done during ante-natal care such as mono-therapy, duel therapy and ARVís on preterm delivery and the outcome of those pre-term babies.
