EXPERIENCES AND CLINICAL MANAGEMENT OF EXTRAUTERINE PREGNANCIES: NEW APPROACHES

Surandhra Ramphal, Jack Moodley

Abstract

EXTRAUTERINE PREGNANCIES, PARTICULARLY ADVANCED EXTRAUTERINE PREGNANCIES ARE RARE CONDITIONS AND OCCUR PARTICULARLY IN UNDER RESOURCED COUNTRIES.TO DATE, THERE IS NO STANDARDIZATION OF CLINICAL/SURGICAL GUIDELINES, WHICH IS LARGELY DUE TO THE RARITY OF THE CONDITION AND NO ONE INDIVIDUAL HAVING SUFFICIENT EXPERIENCE. EXPERIENCES OVER THE LAST 12 YEARS WILL THEREFORE ESTABLISH METHODS, IN PARTICULAR MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY AND CONSERVATIVE APPROACHES TO BE CONSIDERED IN THE CLINICAL MANAGEMENT OF THIS CONDITION. MANAGEMENT OF A SIZEABLE NUMBER (PROBABLY THE LARGEST MANAGED BY A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL MANAGED 76 CASES ) WILL ALLOW NEW INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES TO BE PUBLISHED AND USED.
