Abstract

The Human Papillomavirus Vaccine was licensed in South Africa in March 2009. The vaccine offers a potential for primary prevention. Awareness, knowledge and utilization of the vaccine are important to assess the potential barriers to uptake. Personal beliefs and attitudes of health care workers towards the HPV vaccine need to be assessed to identify factors associated with intention to recommend the vaccine. Health care providers will be interviewed and those willing to participate will fill out a questionnaire at the time of interview.
